Dear Alaskan Patriots:

2022 Alaskan Endorsements.

The AIP is a pro-gun, pro-family, pro-life, pro-strict-interpretation constitution party. We alone dare to call out the federal government as in wanton violation of its own Constitution.

Constitutional Convention showdown sparks
ardent debate on both sides - Alaska Watchman

PRESS RELEASE – May 25th, 2021

Bob Bird of Kenai, Chairman of the Alaskan Independence Party, announces the appointment of two key positions within the party.

Russ Millette as Vice-Chairman – South and Arthur Serkov as Vice-Chairman – North.

Both bring unique perspectives and balance to the third largest political party in Alaska.

Millette, of Anchorage, was elected chairman of the Alaska Republican Party in March 2012, only to be ousted in a controversial maneuver before he even took office. A Ron Paul supporter, the “Old Guard” Republicans did not welcome either him or the grass roots constituency that supported him, or Paul’s message, of strict constitutionalism. Millette was also a candidate for governor in the GOP primary in 2014, garnering 11,000 votes. His presence in AIP leadership brings years of experience.

Serkov, of Fairbanks, is an American-born and Alaskan-raised son of emigrants from the USSR, who were able to finagle an exit visa during the last years of the Soviet Union in pursuit of religious freedom. Serkov is an advocate of sound money, prolife, libertarian and anti-socialist policies, is a devout Christian and is under 30 years old. His leadership will bring with it a bright and youthful intellect that will hopefully help the party for many years to come.

Bird made the appointments based on a winter-long promotion of the AIP, speaking to audiences on the Kenai Peninsula, Mat-Su Borough, Anchorage and Fairbanks. The presentation explains Alaska’s statehood history, the founding of the AIP by Joe Vogler and a new direction for the party. Its mission to hold the federal government to its constitutional limitations, the treaty obligations set forth in the 1945 U.N. Charter, and to establish Alaska on an “equal footing” with its sister states, are the issues that brought the party to birth, and will always be present.

The AIP is currently involved in a lawsuit against last fall’s Proposition 2, “Ranked Choice Voting”. The implications of this questionably-approved law portends ill for all “third” parties in the state. Details on request.

The AIP also encourages Alaskans to visit its website at www.akip.org and view the template of a proposed, unfinished new state constitution. This will be found on the left-hand side of the Home Page under “Old News”. The voters will have before them in 2022 the referendum, “Shall there be a constitutional convention?”

With nearly 19,000 members, the AIP is enjoying a growth spurt and is now nearly 25% of the size of the Democratic Party in Alaska.

Because of recent events, both myself and chairman-emeritus Mark Chryson are receiving a lot of emails.

"We are joining the AIP!"
"Thanks for getting the AIP going again!"
"We no longer trust the Republicans!"

Action is going to be necessary. I will begin at my local level on the Kenai Peninsula but will also go to Anchorage, the Mat Valley and Fairbanks. Please keep an eye out for notices and updates on this webpage so that we will not have to respond to every email, text or phone call.

I recently made a trip to the Mat Valley and met with a small number of people. It was productive but unofficial.

To make the party work, we will need contributions. I expect to have a PayPal or other device on the website soon. But this will also a require a Secretary, which will have the responsibility of working with the Treasurer and myself to meet APOC requirements.

I also recommend that the AIP website be thoroughly studied to understand the AIP's history, goals and recent actions taken at the October convention. Remember, what the mainstream media says about us and what the truth is, are usually two different things.

Alaskan Independence Party
2020 Statewide Convention Summary

Newly Elected Chairman Bob Bird
And Treasurer Andrew Bosela

The AIP Re-Ignites!

The Alaskan Independence Party re-lit some fires in Wasilla on Saturday, October 17 at the Mat-Su Resort with a fascinating --- and inspiring --- group of candidates and speakers that dealt with the current social-political crisis and the reasons why they moved to the AIP.

The turnout was typical of recent AIP conventions since the 21st century began, with about 20 voting delegates. This does not discourage us!

There are now well over 18,000 AIP registered voters statewide. We are rich with ideas and principles but modest in our means. In a state the size of ours, it is difficult to travel. It is a 400 mile round trip from the Kenai Peninsula and 600 miles from Fairbanks yet delegates came from there and naturally from beleaguered Anchorage and the Mat Valley.

Our convention also contained sympathetic observers who for a modest fee gained commentary privileges --- but no vote --- on the issues being discussed.

We are not going away and will not go into hibernation after this election.

I will make numerous summaries of the convention for posting on the AIP website so please keep looking for them. The resolutions, by-laws and platform were well discussed by the “Committee of the Whole”. I will characterize the message of the speakers as best I can. I will also discuss our balance sheet and how contributions can be made.

Most party expenses are being met on an ad hoc basis out of our own pockets until we can get a new account established and the older one released by the bank to the control of the new leadership.

Right now we have not yet established an online “Click-and Give”. For now you can make checks out to the “AIP” and send them to 50615 Shemya Way, Kenai, AK, 99611.

We are also in need of party officers. We are functioning with a bare minimum right now. Yours truly, Bob Bird has been duly elected Chairman. It is a very serious responsibility. I did not seek it. I believe it is God’s will. I will live with the risks and ask for your prayers.

Andrew Bosela was elected Treasurer.

Pray and then act. Life is a risk. We were created to take it.

More to come,
Bob Bird
Chairman, Alaskan Independence Party

Dear Friends of Alaska & Of Liberty:

The death of Lynette Clark on May 17 has plopped the leadership of the Alaska Independence Party into my unworthy lap.

For mostly financial reasons the AIP was allowed to drift after our last, and quite successful, statewide convention, held in Kenai in 2010. That convention was well attended --- but mostly by well-wishers, not party members. These well-wishers avoided membership for one very good reason: joining the AIP would prevent them from voting in the Republican Primary. They actually participated as guests, giving comments but allowed no vote.

I don't blame them. And I don't blame the GOP, either, for their "Classic Open Primary" policy, keeping out "Other Party" voters (as opposed to "Non-Party Independents").

These sympathizers respected the AIP's principles, its founder Joe Vogler and its Interior-Miner's orientation. They respected an "Alaska First" policy and its libertarian political philosophy. They completely understood the 2nd Class status Alaska was granted in statehood. They liked the AIPs history that included not only Joe Vogler but also Jack Coghill, Sr., the Palin Speech, Wally Hickel, Lynette Clark, Mark Chryson and even Yours Truly.

Their heart, like so many others, was with the AIP. But the phrase "Home is Where the Heart Is" was resisted and avoided.

I love this party. It exemplifies everything good about personal responsibility, fighting for the correction to Alaska's denied rights of statehood, strict constitutionality and liberty.

My plan: is to review the state's laws on political parties and after consultation with the bureaucracy, well-wishers and members, proceed to call a statewide convention in Anchorage this fall. Time & Place will be announced through the required media outlets in Anchorage, Mat Valley, Juneau, Kenai and Fairbanks. I will hold a press conference at the appropriate time.

There are a few things that I want to mention here so that complete transparency will be certifiable. I meet disagreements from friends with joy. I want no one to think I have a "hidden agenda".

I believe that Joe Vogler's historic identification of the 1945 UN Charter that identified Alaska as a "Non Self-Governing Territory" that has denied us the four options that Alaska was entitled to, must never be abandoned.

And in 2010 I placed the party onto a family-friendly stance.

This was not a problem with others because the jurisdiction of the courts in re-defining marriage, abortion, sexual orientation, etc. was rightfully seen as an unconstitutional overthrow of states' rights, no matter how libertarian someone's personal philosophy was grounded. As such, the doctrine of state nullification was adopted as perfectly constitutional in these matters. Any abortion-rights party members who were there had absolutely no problem with calling for the abandoning of Roe v. Wade, Kelo v. New London, and a host of other examples of judicial tyranny.

For myself personally I would have to walk away from any party that did not at least maintain these planks. And I hope to have the party become a new haven for Christians and free-market entrepreneurs who are ready, at last, to walk away from the GOP. The party needs new life and a younger membership that will learn and understand from the wisdom the older members have to offer.

And certainly the Covid Crisis will permit us endless discussion about liberty at any convention.

But I say, "Call a convention and see where the party wants to go through consensus."

There are several things you can do:

  1. Attend the convention as a non-voting observer with commentary privileges.
  2. Join the party at the door and be an immediate participant.
  3. Spread the word to those whom you believe share this vision.

Your input would be best communicated to me through a phone call. My cell is 907-398-9373. I use a flip-fone, so texts ought to be short and I cannot ID you except by your number, which I likely do not recognize.

"From every Alaskan mountainside, LET FREEDOM RING."

Bob Bird

Was Alaskan Statehood a Fraud?

The reader may be tempted to guess that by asking this question is to answer it. Actually, a better premise might be to ask “Was it a deliberate fraud?” This can probably never be answered to the satisfaction of an historian, but there is no reason why speculations cannot be made, based upon evidence.

That Alaska is still a de facto colony is hard to dismiss, to list just a few of the frustrations: at least sixty percent of its landmass is controlled, if not owned, by the federal government; the citizens do not enjoy subsurface mineral rights on their own property, of which perhaps only one per cent is in actual private title; there are no counties, and with it the concomitant existence of sheriffs, the highest authority within any county; and road building often requires an act of... ...Read More

We are the only Alaskan political party that is entirely composed of Alaskans, staffed by Alaskans and financed by Alaskans. We are not affiliated with any political party on a National level. We believe and hold a firm footing in the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and following the Constitution of the United States and Alaska. We are a States' Rights party, as is reflected in the AIP Platform. We stand on a firm Constitutional foundation. The continual growth of membership of the Alaskan Independence Party has created one of the largest third parties in the United States. Join us as we lead Alaska to the Prosperity, Freedom and Liberty that Alaskans expect, deserve and should enjoy. We look forward to your membership!

There is a commonly held belief across Alaska, that the US Constitution has been set aside, and other then ourselves, there are no protections to the liberty and freedoms we are to have as our continued inheritance since the formation of the Union of the "several States". Our main "goal" is a legal vote and ballot; one that was not given in 1958 and was in violation of International Law and Treaty. Alaskan were robbed of the choices we were to have as a non-self-governing territory, and steam-rolled into the current classification of a State. The Native population of Alaska, in a large percentage, did not even receive a ballot because of the Federal Voting Rights Act in place, at the time requiring the ability to read and write English, and for the first time in any Statehood vote of a Territory entering this "Union", the military and their of age dependents, through a special act of the US Congress, were allowed access to the Statehood ballot. Then, as today, corruption abounds. The US government is far and away outside the bounds placed on it by the 9th and 10th amendments and is operating illegally for all .

The AIP was proud to support Bob Bird for the Senate of the United States. For more information you can visit his web site www.birdforsenate.com. We also supported Don Wright, running for the U.S. House of Representatives. His contact information can be found on our Links page. Both men took over 4% of the Alaskan Vote which worked out to over 13,000 votes.

The Alaskan Independence Party can be summed up in just two words:

ALASKA FIRST!

Until we as Alaskans attain our Ultimate Goal, the AIP will continue to strive to make Alaska a better place to live with less government interference in our everyday lives.
The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
1) Remain a Territory.
2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
3) Accept Commonwealth status.
4) Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party's founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.
